As most of you already know by now, the iPhone 3G has now been launched! The new version of the “Jesus phone” has several new additions, however; the 3G feature that everyone had been talking do, definitely steals the spotlight.
The Good Stuff:
Refurbished Design - slightly slimmer thicker than its previous model. The 16GB version has a white glossy finish, all other versions will have a black glossy finish. Recessed earphone socket is now gone! - you can now use any headphones. Slightly curved back to give it a smoother sexier look.
Performance - The new model is supposed to be faster, and should sport a longer battery life… 5HRS of talk time according to Apple. It’s also going to be equipped with an integrated GPS unit along with a few other location-based services to help enhance that feature especially with Google Maps live tracking and photo Geotagging.
Other Improvements - Ability to delete emails in bulk, contacts search function, ability to view Microsoft and iWork documents - (not sure on Excel and PPT files). It will also include several enterprise aimed features like Push email, Push contacts, Push calendar, Auto-discovery of Exchange servers, Global address lookup, and a Remote Wipe feature that i don’t have a clue what it is.
The iPhone 3G will also have TypePad, a native blogging application for the iPhone, so bloggers can easily upload images and content.
Price - Reduced (YAY!!) - iPhone 3G to retail at $200 for 8GB and $300 for 16GB.
The Bad Stuff:
- Considering its a3G model, it doesn’t seem to have a front camera!
- No update to the Bluetooth Radio, still has not been updated to support an A2DP profile.
- I didn’t hear anything about the 2mp camera at the back - sadly I don’t think this has been improved- and I didn’t hear anything on the ability to take video clips either.
