The Maltese Governamental election is almost near (8th March) and I can say that this election has been one of the most competitive campaigns that I’ve ever seen. The two main parties are all out against eachother and the other 2 smaller parties swinging right in between them trying to avoid getting in their line of fire. It’s quite fun actually… PN, with it’s gonzipn motto (A one man party desperately trying to win the election by himself) and MLP desperately trying to sound like they are perfect and with their mud throwing campaign exposing corruption etc…
The problem here in Malta (I don’t know if this happens in other countries as well) there are too many fanatics! Some of those people are just either plain dumb and ignorant - otherwise… they have something to win or lose with the election results!
I would never blindly support one political party simply for the fact that I like one party over another - it makes sense to me to first hear what both parties want for the greater good of the country and than base my decision on that. If you support one party over another no matter what, practically for me it means…
a) You have a relative/good friend involved in the party and you or your family can use his/her influence to gain something out of it
b) Work for /Have a professional/Business affiliation with a party candidate - therefore you might also get something good out of it yourself.
c) You are just plain stupid
We’ll just have to wait for the 9th of March to see how it goes…. and as a friend of mine said to me recently, whoever wins… we’ll be screwed anyway!
