Today I’m finally having the first official holiday of the year. I had a couple of short holidays during the year, but they were only 1 or 2 day vacations. This time ill be away for about 5 days!
A friend of mine asked me about 5 months ago, if I was interested to go to Barcelona. I never actually thought of going to Spain, however I loved the idea, and I accepted. There was a special offer running at the time and we managed to get a very nice and cheap flight with Ryanair.
About a month before the holiday, I booked for the hotel (I managed to find a nice and cheap 4 star hotel) and a few days before the trip, I went to book also for the travel insurance. The insurance guy (A very good friend of mine) told me that for traveling for Spain, economy insurance is not recommended. This is cos apparently, medical expenses are really really high there and 30,000 Maltese Liri insurance cover (About 70,000EUR) might not be enough. So I decided to take the standard package, it cost only a couple of dollars more.
My flight was at 9am, so I had to be at the airport at about 7am. Baggage and everything ready we start the journey! After the usual, boring and lengthy airport procedures, we take off at 9am sharp and land in Girona 15 mins earlier than scheduled. We then collected our luggage and we went on our way to the hotel. Unfortunately the way from Girona Airport was quite a long journey and it took us about an hour and a half to arrive to the city by bus! Then after that, there was another 1hr travel by tram and metro.
We arrived at the hotel at about 4pm. It’s a really nice hotel, with a nice lobby and reception area. The rooms are also very nice, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is also quite large and nicely decorated. We also have free WIFI internet in the rooms from which I’m writing this post with, using also my friend’s tiny IBM Thinkpad laptop. We are now going to head out of the room to go to the city and see what it offers! Ciao Buenas Dias!
